Rossana Chu – the former managing partner of EY’s legal arm in Hong Kong, LC Lawyers, that closed on 23 January 2024 – joins Yang & Yang Solicitors, which plans a tie-up with East & Concord in the city.
Yang & Yang said the addition of Chu as a partner – who specialises in M&A, capital markets, financing, asset management, restructuring, PE/VC, as well as trusts and family offices – would strengthen the firm’s advantages in various practice areas.
“Yang & Yang Solicitors LLP is currently in the process of forming an association with East & Concord Partners (pending an application to the Law Society of Hong Kong and subsequent approval),” added the firm.
The Law Society of Hong Kong’s website states that Yang & Yang has six partners. Its managing partner, Victor Yang, previously held the same position at Yang Chan & Jamison, a legal member of Deloitte, now known as Chan & Jamison. He also served as the managing partner of the Hong Kong office at Zhong Lun Law Firm.
East & Concord Partners is actively expanding its presence in the Greater Bay Area. In July 2023, the firm welcomed Melissa Pang, the first female president of the Law Society of Hong Kong, as a practising lawyer in the Greater Bay Area. It said the Hong Kong office was awaiting approval from the city’s Law Society. Five months later, the firm announced that Lin Zejun, the Asia-Pacific legal leader of Deloitte Private, had joined as the director of the Greater Bay Area management committee.
