Melissa Pang, the first female president of the Law Society of Hong Kong in its 111-year history, has recently joined East & Concord Partners in their Greater Bay Area (GBA) office.

Pang is a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. After her term as president of the Law Society from 2018 to 2020, Pang was elected as a council member of the organisation and currently serves as the president of the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA).

Pang is qualified to practice as a solicitor in Australia, England and Wales and Hong Kong, and has passed the GBA legal professional exam validating her to practice across nine mainland cities in this region.

She is also a notary public, accredited mediator, council member of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association, an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, and China Appointed Attesting Officer.

Pang has been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star, the Medal of Honour and appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Hong Kong government.

East & Concord’s Shenzhen and Guangzhou offices were established in 2000 and 2022, respectively, while the Hong Kong office is still awaiting approval from the city’s Law Society.

The three offices intend to form a GBA hub with a strong integrated management and operation mechanism to bring more outstanding legal talents from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau and serve domestic and cross-border clients.
