Hylands Law Firm has hired Dong Hao and Zhao Xu as partners to strengthen the data compliance and IP capabilities of its Shanghai office.

Dong, who was a partner at FuJae Partners, specialises in data compliance and was a key participant in a national-level project on personal information protection in China in 2005.

As a certified information privacy manager of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Dong has previous experience as a senior in-house counsel at Ant Group, responsible for data privacy protection in more than 10 jurisdictions in the Indo-Pacific region.

Dong also brings experience in handling intellectual property and cross-border investment business. He has advised Chinese and international firms in negotiating IP licensing projects, managing complex cross-jurisdictional IP disputes, and guiding Hong Kong and offshore companies on governance, securities compliance, and expanding overseas business.

Zhao, formerly a partner at AnJie Law Firm (rebranded as AnJie Broad) and TianTong Law Firm, focuses on IP dispute resolution as well as helping clients to develop an IP protection system.

She is one of the initial experts from the National Intellectual Property Administration’s patent analysis and early warning pool. She has also worked in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biology, medical devices, new energy, big data, IT and luxury goods.
