Han Kun Law Offices has hired Chen Wenhao as a partner at its Shanghai office, bolstering the firm’s capabilities in data compliance and artificial intelligence (AI). His partner registration is being processed.

Chen has more than 15 years of experience. Before joining Han Kun, he worked as a partner for five years each at the Shanghai branches of AllBright Law Offices and Merits & Tree Law Offices. Earlier in his career, he worked at Orrick and King & Wood, before serving as a senior legal consultant at Kirkland & Ellis in Shanghai.

He focuses on data protection, AI and corporate compliance. He has regularly advised companies on data compliance matters across sectors spanning retail, hospitality, big data, advertising and marketing, life sciences and automotive. He also provides data compliance due diligence and remediation services for complex transactions, including domestic and overseas IPOs, investments, financings and M&A.

Chen is experienced in conducting internal corporate investigations and responding to government investigations. He has handled a broad range of matters involving white-collar crime and crisis management, with cases covering cybersecurity, commercial bribery, unfair competition, antitrust, non-compete disputes and employee fraud.
