Four partners – Geoffrey Zha in Beijing, Yu Haiyan in Chengdu, Joyce Zhang in Shanghai and Joyce Gu in Shenzhen – have joined Global Law Office, shoring up the IP, disputes, capital markets and ESG compliance businesses.
Yu and Zha are specialists in intellectual property and anti-unfair competition, particularly in related dispute resolutions.
Zha previously practised at LexField Law Offices, King & Wood Mallesons and Unitalen Law Office. He has provided counsel to numerous international and startup enterprises, including Google, Oracle, BP and Accor.
Before joining Global, Yu practised at AllBright Law Offices. The Sichuan Provincial High People’s Court selected several of her cases as among the top 10 typical cases. The IP dispute case over the new plant varieties rights for Yang’s Jingold Red No.1 kiwi fruit was among them. This case was also selected as one of the top 20 typical cases for judicial protection by the Supreme People’s Court’s Plant Variety Judiciary in 2022, as well as one of the 100 typical cases for the fifth anniversary of the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People’s Court.
Zhang primarily engages in M&A, life sciences and health, private equity, and compliance. She also has in-depth research in the ESG compliance field. Zhang practised at King & Wood Mallesons for six years before entering China’s medical and health industry in 2006. She successively held the positions of president of MicroPort, vice president of Dian Diagnostics Group, and chief compliance officer of both companies. In 2021, she joined JunHe as a partner.
Gu specialises in capital markets, M&A financing, corporate governance, and dispute resolution. Currently, he is a member of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association’s E-sports and Online Gaming Legal Professional Committee. Previously, Gu practised at Zhong Lun Law Firm, AllBright Law Offices and Dacheng Law Offices.
