East & Concord Partners (E&C) has formed an affiliation with Hong Kong law firm Yang & Yang Solicitors, allowing E&C’s Guangzhou and Shenzhen offices to pool resources with Yang & Yang as well as enhance their service capabilities in the Greater Bay Area.
Yang & Yang, which has six partners including the recent addition of Rossana Chu, was originally a spin-off from Deloitte’s legal arm, Yang Chan & Jamison, now known as Chan & Jamison. Victor Yang, the managing partner of the firm, previously held the same position at Yang Chan & Jamison, and also served as the managing partner of the Hong Kong office at Zhong Lun Law Firm.
E&C’s managing partner, Wang Dong, said Hong Kong still played an important role in global trade and had become the legal centre in Asia. The E&C-Yang & Yang partnership would enable the provision of more efficient and convenient services to both domestic and international clients.
Both firms will collaborate to offer various services, including contract negotiation, IPO, compliance, corporate law, private wealth management, family wealth, cross-border investments, M&A, and dispute resolution.
During the past two years, E&C has been actively expanding its presence in the Greater Bay Area. In 2022, the firm appointed Lin Zejun, the former Asia-Pacific legal leader at Deloitte Private, as the director of the Greater Bay Area management committee. Last year, Melissa Pang, the first female president of the Law Society of Hong Kong, joined the firm as a practising lawyer in the Greater Bay Area.
