South Korean law firm Yoon & Yang has continued its litigation practice expansion by recruiting another three former judges, Oh Young Lee, Jeong Dae Park and Dong Bok Park, as partners effective from 4 March.

Yoon & Yang’s senior managing partner, Myung Soo Lee, told Asia Business Law Journal that the trio would bring expertise in their respective areas: Oh Young Lee in construction and real estate; Jeong Dae Park in administrative and labour law; and Dong Bok Park in criminal law.

“Yoon & Yang plans to maintain the highest level of expertise in identifying and addressing difficult client needs in increasingly complex litigation cases across various industries and litigation fields,” he said.

Having started his judicial career in 2000, Oh Young Lee was most recently a presiding judge at the Seoul Central District Court, and held the position of chief judge in the construction division of this court for the past four years. In 2023, he was selected as a construction specialist judge.

Jeong Dae Park’s last position was as presiding judge at the Seoul Administrative Court for the past three years. He previously served as a research judge at the Supreme Court’s criminal and labour division, specialising in labour and administrative cases.

Dong Bok Park served as a high court judge at the Suwon High Court for the past four years, handling appellate trials for various litigation cases including criminal, civil and administrative matters. As a graduate of Korea National Police University, he also worked as a police officer before pursuing a career as a judge.

About a year ago, Yoon & Yang hired another trio of former judges as partners: Dongkeun Lee, Jae Ho Hwang and Sungwook You.

“Yoon & Yang has become a law firm consistently recognised in major litigation cases, establishing itself as a preferred choice for lawyers with judicial backgrounds,” said Myung Soo Lee.
