The Japan In-House Lawyers Association (JILA) has marked a global outreach milestone after officially supporting the 11th International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Asia-Pacific Conference on International Arbitration in Singapore.

The conference brought together arbitration practitioners, corporate counsel and dispute resolution professionals from across the Asia-Pacific to discuss developments in international arbitration, including proposed updates to the ICC Arbitration Rules expected in 2026, enforcement strategies, artificial intelligence and the ICC’s award scrutiny process.

Delegates also attended a demonstration of an AI-powered arbitration research platform that searches ICC awards, court decisions and dispute resolution databases from multiple jurisdictions while providing source citations, illustrating the growing role of trusted AI tools in arbitration practice.

JILA said supporting the conference represented an important step in strengthening its international engagement. JILA hopes the sponsorship will pave the way for supporting more international conferences and deepen collaboration with bar associations, in-house counsel organisations and legal communities across jurisdictions.
