Milbank has made a series of lateral hires from magic circle firms to expand its private equity (PE) and leveraged finance capabilities in its Hong Kong office.
Andrew Whan and Neeraj Budhwani joined from Clifford Chance, where they were co-heads of the Asia-Pacific private equity practice based in Hong Kong. They advise an array of leading PE funds on domestic and cross-border leveraged buyouts, management buyouts and buy-ins, venture capital (VC) and public M&A transactions.
Davide Mencacci and John Bona joined from Linklaters’ Hong Kong office, where Mencacci was global head of banking and Bona served as counsel. They focus on leveraged finance transactions, structured finance, investment-grade finance, margin lending, real estate finance and cross-border restructuring transactions.
David Zemans, Milbank global executive committee member and the firm’s Asia practice managing partner in Singapore, said the new hires “bring a technical prowess and deep market knowledge that will allow us to continue to tackle the most complex transactions in the region and strengthen our reputation as one of the leading private equity and leverage finance practices in the Asia-Pacific market”.
Milbank’s capital markets practice recently advised on 11 debt issuances for Philippine issuers, raising more than US$4 billion in five weeks.
