Clyde & Co has expanded its Asia-Pacific energy and construction practice with the appointment of David Phua as a partner at its Singapore office.
Phua joins from King & Wood Mallesons, now known as Mallesons, where he spent more than seven years and most recently served as co-head of energy and infrastructure, Asean.
“David’s appointment reflects our continued investment in strengthening our energy offering across the Asia-Pacific. His experience, strong industry relationships and deep understanding of the regional market make him a fantastic addition to our team as we support clients navigating an increasingly complex and evolving energy landscape,” Thomas Choo, managing partner of Clyde & Co’s Singapore office, told Asia Business Law Journal.
Phua specialises in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline gas, renewable power project development and investment, and mining, with a particular focus on critical minerals. His LNG and pipeline gas advice spans the full spectrum of contractual and advisory work.
He also advises on renewable power, including offshore wind, solar and geothermal projects and investment, working with developers and investors across the Asia-Pacific region. In the mining and metals sector, he focuses on offtake, marketing and M&A matters involving critical minerals such as nickel and lithium.
