International law firm Clyde & Co has strengthened its global employment, immigration and pensions practice with the appointment of Sarah Wood as employment practice leader in Australia.

Wood, who will be based in Sydney, joins from Gilchrist Connell, where she spent seven years and most recently served as a principal.

“Our appointment of Sarah Wood reflects a deliberate strategic decision to establish a dedicated employment capability in Australia, aligning our local offering with Clyde & Co’s established global employment practice,” Rebecca Kelly, Clyde & Co’s Australia managing partner, told Asia Business Law Journal.

Wood specialises in both advisory and litigation matters, including executive employment issues, restructures and redundancies, workplace investigations, regulatory compliance, enterprise bargaining and the management of people-related risks. She also advises corporates and insurers on employment, industrial relations and safety matters.

In her new role, she will work with the firm’s global employment, immigration and pensions practices across Asia, the Middle East, the UK and the US to deliver cross-border support to multinational and domestic clients.

“Sarah brings deep experience advising both multinational and insurance clients across Australia. The appointment addresses a clear gap in the market, enabling the firm to provide integrated cross-border employment advice, respond to growing demand in areas such as employment practices liability, and support complex workplace investigations. Sarah will be supported by a team of five specialist employment lawyers,” Kelly said.
