Ashurst has hired projects lawyer Andrew Roche in its Singapore office as a partner in the firm’s international projects group. He joined from Latham & Watkins, where he was a partner since 2014.

Roche has more than 15 years of experience advising on the development, project financing and acquisition of energy, resources and infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific. He advises financiers, sponsors, developers and host governments on projects in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, mining and infrastructure sectors.

“His breadth of industry knowledge will contribute to the growth of our market-leading project development, project finance and projects acquisitions capabilities,” said Joss Dare, co-head of global projects practice at Ashurst in London.

Jini Lee, Ashurst’s regional head of Asia in Hong Kong, added that Roche’s appointment reflected the firm’s commitment to the region. “He has a deep understanding of the Asia markets and extensive transactional experience in a wide range of Asia jurisdictions including Indonesia, Bangladesh, Philippines and Malaysia,” said Lee.
