Milbank has hired Maurice Conway as a partner in its global corporate and M&A group in Singapore to expand its international private equity capabilities in Asia.

“Having PE (private equity) expertise on the ground in Singapore further enhances our offering to clients across the Asia region and leaves us very well placed to assist clients in some of the busiest markets in SEA (Southeast Asia), including Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia,” David Zemans, a managing partner of Milbank’s Singapore office and Asia practice, told Asia Business Law Journal.

He said Conway had represented some of the largest and most active PE sponsors in Southeast Asia on significant investments for more than a decade.

Conway has joined the firm from Kirkland & Ellis, where he served as a partner in the Hong Kong office for four years. Prior to that, he was counsel at Latham & Watkins for five years.

He has experience in cross-border M&A and private equity, advising global private equity firms, corporates and financial sponsors on complex transactions across Asia, particularly in Southeast Asia. His practice spans industries including healthcare, technology, consumer goods and infrastructure.

Zemans said combining Conway’s expertise with the transactional experience and broad client base of the firm’s existing PE team would provide clients with coverage and experience on complex cross-border M&A in the region and globally.
