White & Case has beefed up its global M&A practice in Tokyo with the addition of partners Noah Carr and Gordon Palmquist.

Both Carr and Palmquist arrive from Freshfields, where they each spent nearly three years as partners.

Carr advises Japanese and international strategic and financial investors on a broad range of transactions, including complex public and private acquisitions, carve-outs, growth equity, joint ventures and alliances matters.

Palmquist focuses on advising Japanese corporate groups, financial institutions and energy and trading companies on outbound acquisitions, divestments, carve-outs, and complex infrastructure platforms.

“Japan remains a key market for cross-border M&A and investment activity, and we continue to see strong demand from clients for advice on increasingly complex transactions. Noah and Gordon have spent many years advising Japanese corporates, financial sponsors and international investors on strategic deals, and their experience, market knowledge and relationships will further strengthen our ability to support clients on significant cross-border transactions,” Jun Usami, executive partner of the Tokyo office, told Asia Business Law Journal.
