Dentons has appointed John Goulios as its Asia-Pacific region insurance leader, as the firm looks to expand its insurance offering.
Goulios joined Dentons Rodyk, the firm’s Singapore office, as a partner in February 2026. He previously served as global co-chair of the insurance sector at DLA Piper and as managing partner of the firm’s Singapore office.
Rather than focusing on a single jurisdiction, Goulios said he intends to strengthen Dentons’ presence across pivotal markets in the region.
“We will look to further strengthen our presence in key Asean markets, as well as in established regional hubs, by deepening capabilities and enhancing collaboration across our existing platform,” he told Asia Business Law Journal.
“Rather than a purely jurisdiction-driven approach, our priority is to build a more integrated, cross-border offering — leveraging Dentons’ unparalleled APAC and global network to support clients operating across multiple markets. This may include strategic lateral hires, capability build-out in specific lines of insurance work, and closer alignment with our global Financial Institutions sector.”
Over the next 12 months, Goulios said his focus would be on further developing Dentons’ reputation in the insurance sector and deepening engagement with industry stakeholders.
“Over the next 12 months, my focus will be on further strengthening and integrating Dentons’ Insurance offering across the APAC region, aligned with our global sector strategy. This includes deepening collaboration across practice groups and jurisdictions to deliver seamless, cross-border solutions for our clients, while continuing to build our profile as a leading adviser on complex and high-value insurance and reinsurance matters,” he said.
“We will also prioritise targeted client development initiatives across key markets, expand and deepen our engagement with global insurers, reinsurers and other industry stakeholders, and enhance thought leadership in areas such as regulatory change, disputes and emerging risks.”
