Assegaf Hamzah & Partners, the Indonesian arm of Rajah & Tann Asia, has bolstered its IP practice with the addition of partner Wiku Anindito.
Anindito arrives from HHP Law Firm, the Indonesian member firm of Baker McKenzie, where he spent more than 16 years and served as an associate partner.
“Wiku’s appointment is a deliberate addition to our intellectual property practice, at a time when IP has become increasingly strategic for our clients, in line with the continuous expansion of Indonesia’s digital economy that also brings with it a more complex cross-border enforcement,” Assegaf Hamzah & Partners co-founder Ahmad Fikri Assegaf told Asia Business Law Journal.
Anindito brings with him more than 16 years of experience advising businesses on brand protection, patent and trademark portfolio management, IP disputes, copyright, licensing arrangements and technology-related matters.
Assegaf said the firm had plans to continue growing its IP practice, but would do so selectively rather than to meet a specific hiring target.
“We do intend to keep growing our IP practice in a selective manner. Rather than hiring to a target, we are always looking for lawyers whose expertise and client focus genuinely strengthen what we offer,” he said.
