Malaysian boutique firm LAW Partnership has hired corporate lawyer Raphael Tay as head of corporate and commercial in Kuala Lumpur.

Tay joined from a full-service Malaysian firm, Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, where he was a partner for more than two years.

He advises on various international projects including M&A, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, divestments, and general corporate and commercial work, with three decades of experience encompassing local and international work.

Brian Law, the managing partner at LAW Partnership in Kuala Lumpur, said that Tay’s arrival to lead the newly created corporate and commercial group placed the firm firmly among the elites in the country.

“All of our partners and associates have benefitted from working on international transactions and disputes, and this will be further strengthened through Raphael’s experience in advising on strategic acquisitions, disposals and technology deals,” said Law.

Law co-founded the firm with partner Suaran Singh Sidhu in 2019, with a primary focus on intellectual property and the technology sector.
