Linklaters has appointed Hong Kong-based capital markets partner William Liu as its new regional managing partner, Asia, for a four-year period from 1 June 2021.
Liu succeeds banking partner Nathalie Hobbs in Hong Kong, who has completed her term.
Liu joined Linklaters in 1998 as a trainee in Hong Kong and gained a partnership in 2008, in the Shanghai office. He has served as head of China and head of capital markets, Asia, since 2018, and also sits on the Asia executive committee.
“William has consistently delivered results in his previous roles as head of capital markets, Asia and head of China, and I am excited to see where he takes the region next,” said Linklaters’ firmwide managing partner, Gideon Moore.
Moore also praised Hobbs’ leadership in the past four years. “Her sound, commercial judgement and pragmatic approach have supported the region’s significant growth, and we thank her for her service.”
