James Liu recently joined Dorsey & Whitney as the firm’s of counsel in its corporate group in Shanghai. Liu is experienced in advising Chinese companies on outbound M&A and investments in Europe, North America and the rest of Asia.
He advises on cross-border transactions for both international investors coming into China, and Chinese companies investing in overseas markets.
Liu has experience in structuring joint ventures, direct investments and acquisitions in both high-tech and traditional industry sectors. He also has experience and knowledge in the healthcare sector, including biotechnology and medical devices, as well as the related legal regulatory environment.
Before joining Dorsey, Liu was a partner in PRC law firm Jincheng Tongda & Neal, where he was a member of the management committee from 2005 to 2011 and managing partner of the Shanghai office in 2008 and 2009.
