On 13 December, India’s National Law Day Awards were presented by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the presence of Justice KG Balakrishnan, the chief justice of India, and HR Bhardwaj, the country’s law minister.
Recipients included Rajiv Luthra, the managing partner of Luthra & Luthra, and Ashok Sharma, the chief general manager (law) at MMTC, a government-owned trading company.
Luthra’s award was “in recognition of his singular contribution to the practise of corporate and commercial law in India and for being the country’s earliest pioneer in international transaction lawyering”.
