Khaitan acts for Leonardo-Vulkaan helicopter deal

Khaitan & Co has counselled Italian company Leonardo Helicopters on an aircraft distribution agreement with Universal Vulkaan Aviation in the Indian market.

Partner Atul Pandey led the Khaitan team, which was responsible for structuring the arrangement in accordance with Indian regulations. Principal associate Arjun Bhagi and associates Shivansh Mehta and Mehul Mehta also assisted.

Khaitan’s executive director Vinita Krishnan, with the assistance of principal associate Sneh Shah and senior associate Husain Bohra, advised on direct taxation matters.

Partner Mayank Jain and principal associate Pranay Sahay worked on indirect taxation issues, while partner Pranjal Prateek and associate Yatharth Vardhan Singh advised on competition law. Leonardo Helicopters is an Italian manufacturer that has global expertise in researching, designing, developing, producing and providing customer support for rotary aircraft. Its focus spans the commercial, public service, as well as security and defence sectors. Universal Vulkaan Aviation is a three-month-old private company based in Delhi.
