Legal process outsourcing consultancy Fronterion has published a report entitled Ten for 2010, predicting the top 10 trends in the LPO market in the year ahead.

According to the findings India will face intensified competition from emerging LPO centres such as South Africa and the Philippines. The report acknowledges India’s preeminent position as an outsourcing destination, with more than 85% of offshore legal outsourcing vendors currently based in the country, but highlights South Africa’s appeal to clients in the UK particularly because of its concurrent time zone, strong cultural affinity and maturing vendor landscape.

The report predicts that there will be an increased focus on transparency in 2010, leading to “more efficient markets and heightened credibility of legal outsourcing initiatives for both buyers and vendors”. The report also expects the American Bar Association and other legal bodies to issue more detailed guidelines on the ethics of legal outsourcing.
