Following a lacklustre year for London’s AIM market, there are finally signs of an upturn. On 2 September, Indian Energy, an independent power producer and operator of wind farms, raised £9.75 million (US$16 million) through a placement on AIM of more than 12 million new ordinary shares at an issue price of 80 pence per share.

The company was represented by a team from Covington & Burling’s London office, including partner Simon Amies, associates James Baillieu and Richard Holden and trainee Tom Goodman. Of counsel Guy Dingley and associate Ed Dearing advised on tax issues, while of counsel Peter Cooke advised on the employment elements of the transaction. Trilegal acted as Indian legal counsel to the company.

“We are delighted to have assisted Indian Energy reach this important milestone in the company’s development,” said Amies.
