Slaughter and May is advising Standard Chartered Bank, as international counsel, on its proposed public issue and listing of Indian depositary receipts representing underlying new ordinary shares in the company. The listing is subject to market conditions and further regulatory approvals.

The Slaughter and May team includes partner Nilufer von Bismarck and associates Andrew Salisbury and Stuart Burnett from the London office and partner Laurence Rudge and associate Marco Chung from the Hong Kong office.

Amarchand Mangaldas is advising Standard Chartered on Indian law.

Standard Chartered filed a draft red herring prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India in connection with its proposed public issue. The UK-based bank is expected to be the first overseas company to list in India.
