The Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association (ICCA) has co-organised a webinar with HHP Law Firm (member of Baker McKenzie) and ICC Indonesia, the National Committee of Indonesia to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), on the newly enacted Personal Data Protection Law.

Ilham Habibie, the president of ICC Indonesia, gave a speech to open the 29 November webinar. HHP senior partner Daniel Pardede and associate partner Adhika Wiyoso presented the status of implementation and the key provisions of the law, as well as its impact on businesses. The event was moderated by Yanne Sukma Dewi, vice president of the ICCA.

Indonesia’s House of Representatives approved the Personal Data Protection Bill in September, and President Joko Widodo signed the bill into law in October, which will be fully implemented in two years. The law provides certainty and clarity on personal data protection in the country, with the intention to provide better protection to data subjects.
