Hunton & Williams has beefed up its global energy project finance team with the hire of five new partners from Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker. Ellis Butler, John Hawkins, Raj Pande, Jeff Schroeder and Larry Skinner joined Hunton & Williams on 20 May. Hawkins and Schroeder will serve as co-heads of the team and Pande will chair the firm’s Japan practice and co-chair its Asia steering committee.
“This is an exciting addition to a strong practice group at a time when our clients around the world have a growing desire to develop new energy projects,” said Wally Martinez, managing partner of Hunton & Williams.
Projects on which the new partners have worked include InterGen’s US$3.4 billion refinancing, Tokyo Electric Power Company’s US$3.7 billion acquisition of Mirant’s power generation business in the Philippines, Con Edison’s sale of 1,706 megawatts (worth US$1.47 billion) of generation projects to North American Energy Alliance and Reliance Power’s US$4.2 billion 3,960 megawatt Sasan project in India.
