DOCVIT has recruited senior partner Wang Miao and partner Wei Zhibiao to strengthen its IP and taxation practices.

A qualified patent attorney based in Shanghai, Wang brings IP knowledge from his previous roles at Joint-Win Partners and HFG Law Firm & IP Practice. He specialises in advising on dispute resolutions, administrative disputes and complaints over patents and trademarks.

Wang represented aluminium frame supplier AluK in a lawsuit against Alibaba for trademark infringement, marking the first dispute resolution in China involving a domain name service provider to date.

In 2022, he was selected as one of the Trademark Attorneys of the Year by the Shanghai Trademark Association.

Wei, based in DOCVIT’s Beijing office, holds degrees in law and accounting and focuses on compliance, dispute resolution and criminal defence in taxation cases. He is well-versed in the financial and investment, energy and mining, logistics and transportation, renewable resources, internet and real estate sectors.

He currently serves as the deputy director of the Finance and Taxation Law Committee at the Beijing Lawyers Association.

Previously, Wei practised at the boutique tax firm Hwuason.
