Dear Editor,
We congratulate you for publishing such a candid and incisive interview with Mr Prashant Bhushan in India Business Law Journal’s October 2010 issue. The questions posed to Mr Bhushan were both interesting and informed.
Mr Bhushan raises many crucial and controversial concerns which plague the present judicial system. The sincerity and boldness with which Mr Bhushan has approached the issue of judicial accountability and corruption in the higher judiciary in India is commendable.
The interview has highlighted the nexus between judges, lawyers and corporates which stands to jeopardize the integrity of the entire legal framework in India. As Mr Bhushan points out, there is a pressing need to check the growing trend of ‘broker-fixer’ lawyers in the country who, apart from undermining people’s faith in the legal system, also adversely affects the respectability of the profession.
