Baijus Law Firm has established the Kunming office, marking its second branch outside of Sichuan and Chongqing after the Guiyang office.

With this expansion, Baijus’s coverage extends to the whole of southwest China, excluding Tibet, and further taps into the Southeast and South Asia markets.

The new office, headed by Sun Jiejian, has more than 20 lawyers, providing services in civil and commercial dispute resolution, financial issues, bankruptcy and liquidation, real estate and construction, criminal defence, administrative litigation, corporate taxation, labour disputes, and perennial legal advice.

Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan province and its GDP was RMB754.1 billion (USD106.5 billion) in 2022, up 3% in 2021.

Yunnan shares borders with Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar. Many law firms laid out their plans for the southwest this year, as Yunnan plays a key role in gaining access to Southeast Asia, such as AllBright Law Offices in July and V&T Law Firm in September.
