Japanese law firm Anderson Mori & Tomotsune opened its first European office in London on 1 September. The new office will serve as the European contact for inbound deals into Japan and co-operate with local firms to provide legal services.

Atsutoshi Maeda

Partner Atsutoshi Maeda, who served as the co-head of the Singapore office since 2013, will lead the London office.

Maeda, who joined the firm in 2008, has been involved in many cross-border matters connecting Japan and Southeast Asia and is now set to take on the new venture to set up the firm’s presence in the UK.

The London office will also assist global companies with international disputes related to their businesses in Japan, and advise them on legal issues that may arise after their entry into the Japanese market, such as intra-group restructuring and labour issues.

In addition, it will provide legal services to Japanese companies that have already entered or are considering entering the European market.
