Zhao Sheng Law Firm has appointed Richard Gu, a Shanghai-based corporate partner, as its managing partner, replacing Eric Liu, who recently left to join Haiwen & Partners.
Gu joined Zhao Sheng as a partner in 2019 and he previously practised at Linklaters for 19 years. He can handle cross-border M&A and joint venture transactions in the automotive, consumers, healthcare, mining and real estate.
Gu has offered legal advice on many high-value cross-border transactions, including advising Cevian Capital on the USD3.8 billion sale of an 8.2% stake in Volvo Cars to Geely, and representing Yanfeng, a subsidiary of SAIC Motor, in a USD7.5 billion joint venture with Johnson Controls to set up an automobile accessories enterprise.
