Wei Tu Law Firm, Stephenson Harwood’s China joint operation in Guangzhou, has set up its first branch in Shanghai.

The website shows that the new branch has a partner Joanna Jiang, who joined from Zhong Lun Law Firm in 2023 and was selected as one of China Business Law Journal’s Rising Stars in the same year, and two of counsels Sun Chuangling and Wan Xueqing. Jiang specialises in private wealth, M&A, PE/VC and employee stock ownership plans.

Wei Tu’s managing partner Zoe Zhou told China Business Law Journal that the establishment of the new branch aimed to cater to the growing demands of international clients in Shanghai. The possibility of further expansion will be considered based on business development.

In 2016, Wei Tu affiliated with Stephenson Harwood via the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement. While the latter serves as Hong Kong and UK counsel, Wei Tu acts as the PRC counsel for cross-border clients.
