The 2010 Asian Women of Achievement (AWA) awards gala was held on 19 May at London’s Park Lane Hotel. The accomplishments of nine Asian women were celebrated at the ceremony, which was attended by Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of Jordan.
Ramona Mehta, a litigation partner at Mishcon de Reya and a member of the firm’s India desk, was one of six women shortlisted for the Professional of the Year Award. Joining her on the shortlist were Anjeli Arora, a partner at Bingham McCutchen, Bindar Dosanjh, an independent practitioner who specializes in family and childcare law, and Dr Zahra Jessa, an optometrist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, who was named the winner of the award.
“The nomination was a huge honour, particularly to be listed alongside some formidable women who have achieved so much and are great role models for women in the Asian community,” Arora told India Business Law Journal.
