About 44% of polled Indian lawyers say law firms should be able to use all available advertising options as long as they don’t misinform the public, according to a survey by Rainmaker. Only 23% believe advertising should be minimal, while 80% say it should be regulated by an outside body.
Rainmaker, which provides training and recruitment services to the legal industry, recently published the results of the survey it conducted on issues facing lawyers in India. The survey, in which 435 lawyers participated, covered topics such as workplace satisfaction, branding and advertising, training, human resources management, work-life balance, marketing and client development and career progression. Most respondents were based in New Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore.
The survey generated mixed reviews on law firm satisfaction: 33% of respondents rated their law firm at four, on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest. About 50% rated their firm at three or lower. Around 85% of respondents said law firms should give compensatory holidays for work done on weekends and public holidays, while the same percentage said it would be useful for a firm to obtain mandatory feedback on senior lawyers.
