Phil Cheveley, London-based Shearman & Sterling’s head of M&A in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and Asia, said the firm planned to grow its offering In the region and beyond.
“Jin’s appointment reflects our commitment to deepening our M&A capability in Singapore and Southeast Asia,” said Cheveley.
Ong’s appointment followed the arrival of Singapore-based energy expert David Clinch, who joined Shearmen & Sterling as a partner in June last year from Herbert Smith Freehills after more than 27 years partnership. Ong and Clinch worked together extensively in the previous firm.
