Rodney Ryder has left Kochhar & Co and launched Scriboard, a full-service corporate law firm with a specialist focus on intellectual property and technology law.
Delhi-based Scriboard’s core practice includes intellectual property, media and entertainment, security and corporate compliance, regulatory compliance, electronic commerce, technology and new media and IT. The firm comprises six lawyers and four counsels, primarily for commercial litigation. Ryder hopes to enhance Scriboard’s advisory capabilities by developing a real estate practice that will be run out of the firm’s Gurgaon office when it opens. In addition, the firm is looking to hire three more lawyers by the end of the year.
This is not Ryder’s first solo venture. Several years ago he left IP specialist Anand and Anand and launched Preconcept, an intellectual property, telecommunications and media law practice. He put the project on hold in January 2007 when he was offered a partnership position at FoxMandal Little, heading the firm’s IT and outsourcing practice, but he left FoxMandal in September 2008 to resurrect Preconcept. Several months later he accepted a partnership position at Kochhar & Co.
