Reliance reaches for Russian rubber

Reliance Industries has entered a joint venture with Sibur, a Russian petrochemicals company, to manufacture approximately 100,000 tonnes of butyl rubber annually at a facility to be set up in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This will mark the debut of butyl rubber production in India.

Krishnamurthy & Co advised Reliance. Its team, led by partner Praveen Raju, comprised senior associates Sankar Narayan Swamy and Priti Deshpande and associates Aparnaa Bhalotia and Sharmila Nair. Linklaters advised Reliance on the foreign law aspects of the transaction.

St_Basil's_Cathedral_Moscow-CMYKAakash Choubey and Daksha Baxi, partners at Khaitan & Co, advised Sibur on the Indian law aspects of the deal. Herbert Smith, led by partner Nicholas Moore, acted for Sibur on international law issues.
