The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that by 31 March, it would remove from circulation all banknotes issued before 2005.
Those with banknotes that have been withdrawn should approach banks to exchange them for new notes. The RBI stated identifying old notes is simple as those issued before 2005 do not have the year of printing visible on the reverse side.
