JSA advised the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Indian government and the World Bank in preparing bid documents for the allocation of sea-bed lease rights for offshore wind power projects.

With a deal value expected to surpass USD1 billion, this initiative underscores India’s expanding renewable energy sources and contribution to global sustainability goals.

Managing partner Amit Kapur and partner Kartikeya GS led the JSA team. JSA played a crucial role in structuring the bid papers, comprising a request for selection document, a concession agreement and separate lease agreements for the survey and development stages.

The documents, issued in compliance with the National Offshore Wind Policy, 2015, and Offshore Wind Energy Lease Rules, 2023, also mark India’s inaugural venture into offshore wind power development.

The bidding process seeks to establish 4GW of offshore wind energy capacity, aligning with the country’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2070.
