The direct selling industry has been growing at 30% per year. Today, it has an annual revenue of about US$6 billion.

According to the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) there are about 15 large companies – including Amway, Tupperware, Avon, Oriflame and Modicare – engaged in direct selling at the national level and 30 smaller concerns at the regional levels.

Amway India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amway Corp from Michigan, US, which operates in more than 88 countries. Amway India started its operations in 1998 and is engaged in the direct selling multi-level marketing (MLM) business of high end personal care, nutrition and cosmetic products.
