Australian law firm Middletons recently hosted a Confederation of Indian Industry even in Melbourne called “Building Business through Sport”.
The conference was organised by the Australian Industry Group, the Australia-India Business Council, the City of Melbourne and the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development. The focus on sport was underlined by the arrival of the Queen’s Baton of the Commonwealth Games, which is travelling around Australia.
Cameron Abbott, head of Middletons’ India group, said: “Sport is big business in both countries and we realise that sport sometimes presents unique legal challenges … Both Australians and Indians love their sport, including cricket and the Commonwealth Games, and many a business deal has no doubt been struck while watching their beloved side win or lose.”
