Metro projects move ahead at full steam

India has been slow in developing mass rapid transit systems (MRTS) such as metro rails, monorails and sky buses.

However, with the advent of metro rail systems in Kolkata and Delhi and the proposed metro rail project in Mumbai, there is now a great push towards developing these systems all over the country.

The metro rail system in Delhi (Delhi Metro) is considered to be an extremely well implemented MRTS project in India due to its very high standards of design, construction and operation.

It has demonstrated that such a system can be built and operated effectively and in a financially viable fashion in India.
