Kanga & Co beat Amarchand Mangaldas 1-0 to win the Chief Justice Chagla Cup in the second Bombay Gymkhana Lawyers Football Championship held on 27 and 28 October. The winning team was led by Kunal Vaidya, an associate at the firm, and included Joran Diwan, Swapnam Kajaria, Siddharth Bafna, Dhruv Bhuta, Bhoumick Vaidya, Anish Karande, Arpit Solanki and Vineet Nalawalla.
“It was a fantastic team effort,” Vaidya told India Business Law Journal. “All of us took the tournament very seriously and put in a lot of preparation weeks before it started.” Amarchand Mangaldas were the cup winners during the inaugural tournament in 2011.
J Sagar Associates defeated Wadia Ghandy & Co in a penalty shootout (3-2) to win the Bombay Gymkhana Plate. Their team included Shaswata Dutta, Anuj Bhasme, Varghese Thomas, Kuriyan KZ, Deepak Kumar Thakur, Vikrant Patwardhan, Siddharth Desai, Narayan Kedia, Manav Raheja, Roy George and Dhaval Kothari.
