Khaitan & Co has inducted three new partners. Asim Abbas, Amitabh Sharma and Shishir Mehta will add to the firm’s offerings in the fields of telecommunications, media and technology, infrastructure, and banking and finance, respectively.
Abbas will be based at the firm’s New Delhi office while Sharma and Mehta will be based in Mumbai.
Abbas will head the telecom and media practice at Khaitan & Co, bringing to the table a combination of regulatory, contractual and M&A experience in the telecoms and broadcasting sector. Prior to joining the firm he was in the telecoms and media team at Legal Spectrums, a Delhi-based law firm. Abbas also worked as the vice-president (legal) at Bharti Airtel, before which he was a civil servant and worked as director of tariff and costing in the Department of Telecommunications.
