In-house counsel veteran Goviind Vijay has taken up a new role as senior vice-president, head of legal, at energy solutions provider Inox Wind.

“Since Inox interfaces with a lot of private players and public sector undertakings, I see a lot of potential in terms of project documentation and alternate dispute resolution which ensure the redressal of issues without affecting the growth and pace of the operations,” said Vijay on his appointment.

“Wind power generation capacity in India has significantly increased in recent years. As of 31 December 2023, total installed wind power capacity was 44.736GW, the fourth largest installed wind power capacity in the world. India’s wind energy sector is led by an indigenous wind power industry and has shown consistent progress.

“Inox Wind is India’s leading integrated wind energy manufacturer and solutions provider with three state of the art manufacturing plants and over 3,000MW on the ground,” he added.

Vijay brings 22 years of varied experience both as a practising lawyer as well as being in-house counsel with various organisations.

Previously, he was vice president and deputy general counsel at HT Media Group, taking care of litigation, regulatory affairs and contract management.

Vijay started his career as a litigation lawyer and practised for five years before Delhi High Court, various district courts and other forums. He began his corporate stint with the GMR Group (Delhi International Airport Private Limited, or DIAL) and was also a part of the founding legal team. He was a key player at DIAL during the commissioning of Delhi Airport after privatisation and led the litigation portfolio.

He worked with Jubilant FoodWorks (master franchisee for Domino’s and Dunkin Donuts), establishing and heading the company’s legal functions. He also facilitated the opening of around 250 new Domino’s stores across India and Sri Lanka.

Vijay also worked at McDonald’s India (north and east), Bush Foods and Max Healthcare.
