India achieved a significant victory at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on 8 December with the Appellate Body ruling that the countervailing duty (CVD) measures imposed by the US against certain hot rolled carbon steel flat products are inconsistent with the provisions of the WTO’s Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (ASCM).
India was represented by a team of lawyers from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, which has recently opened an office in Geneva to focus on WTO matters. The US was represented by departmental officials.
