KHAITAN OPENS IN SINGAPORE
Khaitan & Co announced the opening of its first international office at Ocean Financial Centre, Raffles Place, in Singapore on 26 August. The 800-lawyer firm said Karun Cariappa, who was previously at Simmons & Simmons and Morgan Lewis, had joined as a partner in Singapore.
Khaitan will operate as a foreign law practice in Singapore, and Anuj Shah from its M&A and private client practice, and Jean Muller, a director of strategy, will be resident representatives along with Cariappa. Senior partner Haigreve Khaitan described the opening as “a significant milestone” in the firm’s expansion.
TRILEGAL BOOSTS CORPORATE SPHERE
Pranav Sharma and Mallika Chopra joined Trilegal’s banking and finance practice at its Mumbai office on 22 September. Both had previously been partners at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, where Sharma had been a co-head of banking.
