On 1 October Paras Kuhad & Associates and Hemant Sahai Associates announced they had merged their practices. The combined practice, now known as PHA Advocates, will consist of 115 lawyers led by 10 partners, with offices located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai and Kolkata.
According to its senior professionals, the formation of PHA testifies to the shared philosophies of its partners and brings together the demonstrated strengths of the two contributing firms in practice areas as diverse as banking and finance, infrastructure and energy, corporate finance, corporate commercial and M&A, capital markets and regulatory and dispute resolution.
Hemant Sahai, the managing partner of Hemant Sahai Associates, told India Business Law Journal he believed PHA Advocates would offer clients access to high quality services in several practice areas. “In my view, the timing of the merger has also been appropriate,” said Sahai. “Not only are the markets looking positive, consolidation in the legal fraternity too, is becoming inevitable. PHA has aggressive plans to continue to induct further partners.”
