Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) has purchased a minority stake in asset management company Kaizen Management Advisers.

Hemant Sahai Associates acted as the legal adviser to HDFC on the deal. The team was led by corporate M&A partners Souvik Ganguly and Utsa Shome, who were assisted by associates Nihaal Bagadia and Shatakshi. Xerxes Antia, a partner at Wadia Ghandy & Co, advised Kaizen.

Kaizen, which runs the education-focused Kaizen Private Equity Fund, plans to raise US$100 million from domestic and foreign investors. HDFC has also invested in the fund as a limited partner.
