Singapore is one of the most important financial centres in the Asia-Pacific region and many of the firm’s clients have been coming to the island state for international business in recent years, so setting up an office here is in line with the market’s development and clients’ choices, Han Kun said.

The new office will provide domestic and foreign capital markets, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, financial management and private wealth, and dispute resolution services.

Chen Dafei, who specialises in capital markets, M&A and private equity, is the managing partner of the Singapore office. Family wealth management expert Yu Lan also joined the office recently.

Prior to joining Han Kun, Yu was a partner at Singapore law firm, Duane Morris & Selvam, for more than 10 years.

She specialises in designing family office structures and applying for tax exemptions, family trusts, succession planning, asset management licences, and nationality planning. She also assists PRC corporations in setting up a presence in Southeast Asia and in undertaking corporate restructurings.

Yu is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore, a solicitor of England and Wales, a member of the New York State Bar and has passed the PRC bar qualification. She is also a legal adviser on foreign-related matters for the Jiangsu Lawyers Association.
